In history we are going to be looking at discoveries made by individuals that lived in the UK. The children will be learning about historical, medical and geological discoveries and how they have impacted life today. At the end of the topic we will be asking the children to research a discovery and make a presentation that they can share with the class. We will send more information on this half term.

During the first week back the children will be completing a poetry week based on the A. A. Milne poem If I were King. They will be looking at rhyming couplets and seeing how poems are composed and structured. They will also have a go at writing another rhyming couplet to add to the poem. They will finish with the chance to perform the poem out loud. The children will then explore the book Wanted: The Perfect Pet. We will be looking at the language used in book and focusing on the characters, problems and how they are resolved. The children will be looking at adjectives and creating adverts for a most wanted pet. They will also be retelling the story in their own words. We will also be looking at Commotion in the Ocean to continue our rhyming skills and write a non-fiction piece of writing about a sea creature. |
